The project provides for a channel 8 feet deep and 150 feet wide from the Potomac River to deep water in the Little Wicomico River; two stone jetties, 1,000 feet and 1,300 feet long at the entrance; and 1,007 linear feet of timber bulkhead to stabilize the dredged inner channel. The project length is 4,800 feet. STATUS: Dredging of the channel was completed in March 2014. The controlling depth is 7.3 feet

Then the Hurricaine of August 28 1933..
The 8th hurricane of the 1933 season hit the Northern Neck destroying 18 of 30 existing steamboat wharves.
Most steamboat lines ended regular service vs. rebuilding. The steamboat era was over.

AUTHORIZATION: The Little Wicomico River project was authorized by the River and Harbor Act of August 30, 1935.

The 1937 Dredging appears to be the formalization of the permanent river exit and Rock Jetties
